I do not smoke and only drink about 1-3 times a month, never getting drunk. I eat a healthy, balanced diet. My periods have alwaus been a hassle which is why I went on the pill to begin with.

Thanks for your answers so far, everyone. My partner and I work shifts so don't get to have sex so often as we want either.

When you stop the pill its effects go away after the 4th month.
To get pregnant you must have sex on a day that your eggs are being released.
After the 3rd day from the day that menses started put a thermometer into your mouth and check your body temperature every morning before you start turning in bed. The best time is at about 4 a.m. Maintain a chart. You will find that on one day the body temperature drops from 1/2 degree to one degree. This is the day that your eggs are being released. If you want to get pregnant this is the day that you must have sex. Tell your fiance to ejaculate on his inward thrust so that the sperms will shoot deep inside.
After having sex you must stay in bed for about 30 mins with your knees bent up with a pillow under your buttocks so that the sperms will not pour out - to enable them to travel up.
Get your fiance to save his sperms in the testacles for at least 3 days before sex to enable them to mature well to do their job.

Ensure your fit and healthy, some couples chose to have a health checkup with the dr b4 trying to concieve, If you smoke or drink heavily give up and eat a balanced diet Start taking folic acid as soon as you come off the pill. Healthy fertile couples have a 25% of getting pregnant each cycle (could take a little longer after being on the pill for so long but not always) and around 80% will be pregnant after a year. To help your chances each month ensure your having sex around ovulation (usally day 14 of a 28 day cycle) man on top is supposed to help and resting afterwards and propping a pillow under your bum (gravity supposed to help)
Good Luck!

I came off the pill in July (after 4 years) and have since had a hell of a time! Waited 6 wks for 1st proper period then the next 1 came along on time. Was delighted as we are trying to conceive so thought I would be able to work out best ovulation dates and that my cycle was all back to normal. This month I was 10 days late! God only knows what's in store next month.
I would advise anyone who is thinking of ttc to come off the pill asap and maybe just use condoms for a while. Give your body time to regulate and get over the pill.

The average time for someone to conceive is about 6-8 months. If your periods are irregular then you can't go by the "All women ovulation on the 14th day of their cycle." It's not true. For the first 5 months after going off BCP I was unable to 100% positively identify any ovulation. After that I started ovulating around the 19th-20th day of my cycle for a few months. Now I do ovulation around the 14th-16th day of my cycle pretty consistently. I've been off BCP for about 10 months now. My husband and I are planning on trying next year. So I wanted to get a jump start on ditching the BCP that were making me fat, moody, and giving me headaches. And boy do I feel better without them.
I would recommend you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler and getting the
Taking Charge of Your Fertility Software that goes along with this. I think this will help you to be able to conceive quicker considering your cycles are irregular. You will need to take your temperature every morning and monitor your cervical mucus. It's not hard and takes less than 5 minutes each day.
Good Luck!

I was on the pill for many years and then stopped using it. I was waiting for my period to start (as it is supposed to after about 4 days of coming off the pill) but it never did. After a few weeks I became suspiscious so I went to the doctor and found out I was already pregnant. I had fallen pregnant about 2 days after I stopped using the pill!

try to have sex as often as you can from the 12th to the 16th day after your last period, i wish you luck, and stay in bed for half a hour with a pillow under you and your legs up. it might take a while after coming off the pill for your body to return to normal, it can take couples up to a year to get pregnant, if it takes any longer see your gp,

It differs can take up to two years. You should begin to take folic acid this helps with development. Eat healthy and drink in moderation and practise lots then maybe this time next year you will be a mummy...

I missed one pill and was pregnant. It will all depend on your body. Take the leap and see what happens.
