I have my symbol etched on my right shoulder, it is a phoenix. From the ashes it will rise again.

Never read it, but if you read Orson Scott Card's "Homecoming Series", it loosely follows the plot of the Book of Mormon, but with a futuristic take on it. It was interesting. If you like Orson Scott Card, read Ender's Game. No Mormon undertones or anything, it's just an excellent book; and the sequel, Ender's Shadow, was almost as good. There are only two non-fiction books I've ever read more than once, and Ender's Game is one of them. ("The Giver" by Lois Lowry is the other one, in case anyone was wondering)

I have never been able to have kids, but both of my brothers do, and I've started to think it would be kind of neat to have something like a mother's ring to represent each of the kids. (6 with one on the way in Dec.)

I'm also a religious person and tend to want to have items around which make me appreciate what my Saviour has done for me. (pictures with scripture, or a cross, or an angel that keeps watch over me)

I'll have to give that some more thought.
I do, on occasion buy myself a gift, but it's usually something for my home, garden, or a book or DVD.
Not very symbolic are they?
