Listen, Sugar. You have known me for a while now, Honey. And if you have picked up on anything at all, Love, it is that I have tons of Southern genuine'iticity. Laws Child......If I met you in person I'd be huggin' on you like a raccoon hugs on a beehive. Sweetie, you just are such a pumpkin that people can't help lovin' on you. And sometimes we do that lovin' with our words, Baby. Now honey bunny, do me a favor and give me a hug. *wink*

I'm 24 but look way younger like I'm 11-12 and people call me honey and I just want to sock them but instead I just look at them if they are older than I am and smile and ask if it is past thier bed time or I will ask well it's good to know you can still move around without a power chair and this usually shuts them up another favorite is well gee thats so interesting but between you and I lets hope you don't run out of depends before the day is done. Then they might try and say something like how rude and thats when you say so were you for calling me honey that is uncalled for.

I guess I can get past that, but it is annoying.
A couple years ago, a friend (female) and I were at the bar, talking about aging gracefully (we both look a bit younger than we are), and the guy next to me, jumped into the conversation and said, "Yeah, you're young and skinny now, but that'll all catch up to you when you turn 24."
I said, "Oh yeah? Is that when it happened to you?" (he was a little overweight. Not huge, but a little chubby.)
He said, "Yep..." He paused. "How long before you get there, anyway?"
I said, "Well, I'm about 12 years from 24..."
He thought about that. "There's NO WAY you're 12..."
I said, "Ya think?"
He said, "Oh." You shoulda seen the look on his face. It was a Kodak moment.

I call most people "sweetie".
I just do it and I admit that it is directed to younger people most of the time, but I have said it to older people.
Don't really see the harm in it.
Most are okay with it, I think?
Besides you could be called a lot worse!
For me, it is done out of care and I believe that this world needs a lot more people who care.

Yes that happens to me occasionally in the supermarket.
A checkout operator (must be all of 20) once called me dear.
How odd is that?

LOL, I concur. They've got no place being that familiar with you. It's happened to me too. Like they're talking to they're senile grandmother or something.
