Sorry to say that usually the company will have you by the short nd curlies on this type of thing. My husband is the same - his contract actually says that he is contracted to work 40 hrs per week but in addition the company got him to sign to say he agreed to work over 48 hrs per week (which the company have to do under European working law). Therefore ny holiday he has is based on 40 hours as in his contract. Read your contract carefully and see what basic hours are required - and also what it states about overtime and whether you have signed to agree to work over 48 hrs. If in the UK and you hvent signed the company are breaking the law. If overtime is paid at time and a half and you havent sgned anything you may be entitled to a bit of back pay. Dont forget your company will always deduct 1 hr per day unpaid for lunch - thats how some get round it. I wish you luck x

You are garanteed 50 hours a week ,but i think the extra 10 hours will be classed as overtime, if you do not work them then it,s not paid. Your contract is most likely for a 40 hour week. Read your contract, or get a union rep to take a look at it.

In the UK you are entitled to a statutory 4 weeks paid holiday each year.
Over 18's also only have to work a maximum 48 hour week.
Your holidays as stated above are wrong.
See this website for more details.

Usually holiday pay is paid in percentage. e.g. For 2 weeks of holiday you suppose to get 4% of you total pay for the previous year. So whether you worked 40 hours or 80 hrs it is the percentage that counts. I think you should check it out.

You need to check your contract. Maybe you are employed on a 40hour week, but the 50 per week are 10 extra to help you earn more and also to help the company out.

Check your contract! If you don't have one, ask for one which is signed and accepted (including you) by all parties!!!
