My friend is a single mother. She's never been married and the father's name isn't on the birth certificate. She is and has always been 100% responsible for her child.

She has a job offer from overseas (she is a US citizen as is her child). Her prospective employers are asking that she get something "The American Courts" saying that she has full custody of her child.

How does she do this?

The child's birth certificate along with the woman's ID should do it! I think what and why they are requirring proof she has costudy is that if the father were involved with the child, legal problems might arise from her taking the child out of this country. and which would result in time off work for her to resolve the problem! She can obtain a full costudy order from the court by filing an oder of costudy through the county clerk's office at her local courthouse

Do you guys have a chamber magistrate? Go into the court building and find the administration. Tell them what is happening and they will tell you who to see. It may be a simple matter of a statutory declaration or they may tell her she is to find the father or make a reasonable effort to find the father to ask permission(sucks I know) they will tell you what they consider reasonable effort. They will ask her to prove her effort usually newspaper advertisement in notices column in 3 major papers. But they will tell you anyhow. Good luck with this.
