Eric McCormack is not gay in real life, married with kids and living in a suburb near Toronto Canada. Jack is a ham, funny, and slightly bent on slap-stick physical comedy. Wether the part is written that way, or his representation of it, very well done and enjoyable to watch. Jack and Karen though i would say are the living alter-egos of Will and Grace. It is who they would be if they were allowed. It is kind of like a narration in a novel, a character supplies all the extra information that don't fit into the script. It provides life and rounds out the characters while allowing thier dialouge to be smooth and realistic.

1. no
2. yes
3. no but, Jack was offered a spin off and apparently didn't take it because 'Joey' did so bad.

It's a shame because I think it would have took off and been great. But only if Karen had kept her money.

Maybe they may offer it him again and we'll be lucky.
