I know that this is a dumb question but does it have something to do with the Western media and how they protrey Asians? They always show Asians with a "certain" look and most other Asians that I have talked to agree that Hollywood usually display the most unattractive asian people, so in theory many people think all Asians look like the ugly ones on T.V.
And another thing when people say that all Asians look the same are they talking about the "East Asian" types? Like the Japanese, Koreans, and Chinese?
There are many more types of Asians besides the East Asian, like Southeast Asians (Laotian, Thai, Burmese, Vietnamese etc. and most have big eyes w/double eyelids and fair to brown skin) and South Asians like Pakistanis, Indians, etc., also big eyes w/double eyelids and all skin types why do some people say all asians look the same?
Asia is the biggest contenant in the world it is a ridiculous statement to make to say that over 60% of the world's population is all the same right?

I don`t think 2 people look the same. Everyone has it own features and personality, not even Siamese twins are exactly the same. Most people are like sheep, believing everything they saw on TV and what others told them.

That is just an ignorant term when people say "that Asians all look alike". I personally think that it's a dig on the Asians. They don't and never will. Everyone look different, except for identical twins perhaps, but than again it can apply to the White man too. Just because their eyes are on a slant & brown, doesn't mean they look exactly the same. Just because they have black or dark brown straight hair doesn't mean they are the same as you can dye or perm the hair just like a white man. Asians used to be short and petite but now some have grown taller than the average white man. Don't listen to those ignorant people. They are racist and most likely is a failure in life. We are all equal. All the Asians I know work hard and are very intelligent & kind people. If the opportunity is there, they usually will succeed in anything they do. I hope I have helped.

I don't aggree with you instead, it's depend on the speaker's point of view to regards their generalization to a statement. When they said Asian, meaning, no matter what his/her nationationality (chinese, korean, japanese, mongolian, thai, laotian, burmese, nepalese, malaysian, indonesian, filipino, indian, pakistan ) and whatsoever nationality, this means from people of asian continent where in about 60 % of the poulation concentrated. In otherwords, if you say, American, it means people from either the Norht & South america continent or if you say African means people from the African continent, and the same when you say European for people from that continent. When you said Asians are ugly and unattracteive? no, I dis-agreed with you because I considered Asians are among the most beautiful people of the worlds.

I use to think that when I was younger, until I got to middle school and it was such a mixed crowd. It's kind of hard to tell a Japanese from a Korean. That's why I never just bluntly come out and say they are Chinese, because everyone think that all Asians are Chinese. But I've learned the difference between them. It's just they have simular eyes and face structure. It's not stupidity, it's lack of knowledge. So, educate the one's who don't know. And me personally, I've always thought that Asians were the most exotic people walking the earth.

No, all humans do look alike.
But singling out or stereotyping is based on an
erroneous prejudice,where a few commonalities shared by certain people are used to define them. Asians generally may have a particularly eyelid formation, skin pigmentation, hair color, or stature; blacks of course pigmentation, etc.
Humans do that,they generalize a lot,there are some 20 different kinds of snow recognized by Eskimos, we only know one.
Still, I hope we all humans look alike, I hate to look different,no monkey look for me.

Well, i can only speak for myself obviously, I do not think all of any culture of people look alike. However, I have heard this generalization said about many other people such as all white people look alike and all black people look alike so it is said about everyone. Good luck and God bless

It's ignorance.
But I guess its because a high percent of the population have black hair. In the case of caucasian people, they have different hair colours.
Also maybe because of the Mongoloid eye fold, but other than that... nothing.
Maybe such a high population, and similar genes.
But it's not true, they don't look all the same.

LOL it's because they aren't Asian themselves. We Asians can tell each other apart so personally I don't find it anything but annoying being called a different Asian race than what I am. A bit stupidity added in and there you have it.

lol yehh i agree asians all look diff if u guys would only see..just cz we all have black hair + black eyes dusn't mean we all look the same...hehe have u seen starsky + hutch? "all u westerners look the same to me" .. "well all u orientals look the same to me" lol
