Not all viruses is harmfull for the PC ... There is alot to spy on U & to jumb on Ur PC not for anything on Ur PC but just to be on Other PC through Ur PC .... to hide them self ... Maybe U need to know more about the diffrent between Virus & Worm & Trojan horse ...
most PPL try to spy on each other . Most want to know what U do in Ur PC ... which site U connect to. Which Messenger U use ... Everything ... if they sell that Information to the Messenger that many PPL use one messenger or most go to Yahoo or something like that They get lot mony ...
Other way ... Antivirus programs ... How U think they going to make a Program good ... They make a Virus can't be resolve except only one Antivirus Or one Spywear remove it ...& So they can sell alot from that AntiVirus ..
Alot & Alot ... Just Read what the Virus Do ..
Here is a Small Compare between Virus & So on .

Viruses - A virus is a small piece of software that piggybacks on real programs. For example, a virus might attach itself to a program such as a spreadsheet program. Each time the spreadsheet program runs, the virus runs, too, and it has the chance to reproduce (by attaching to other programs) or wreak havoc.

E-mail viruses - An e-mail virus moves around in e-mail messages, and usually replicates itself by automatically mailing itself to dozens of people in the victim's e-mail address book.

Worms - A worm is a small piece of software that uses computer networks and security holes to replicate itself. A copy of the worm scans the network for another machine that has a specific security hole. It copies itself to the new machine using the security hole, and then starts replicating from there, as well.

Trojan horses - A Trojan horse is simply a computer program. The program claims to do one thing (it may claim to be a game) but instead does damage when you run it (it may erase your hard disk). Trojan horses have no way to replicate automatically.

Enjoy ;)

viruses can also be used to threaten companies into giving extortion money in return for not releasing a virus that can wreak havoc on a companies system.

but mostly its just script kiddies testing stuff out. to be honest, dont hate the virus writer. hate the software developers who allow flaws such as this to exist!

thats why you should never run .exe files without knowing how safe they are

I expect most viruses are written by people who just like to play havoc with computer systems, or are even trying to raise awareness of those systems' vulnerabilities.
