I have developed a varicose vein at the back of my knee and over the past few weeks, it has started to ache if I stand for a long period of time.
If I were to go to my doctor what treatment would they suggest?
I am 25, female and have to stand all day at work, I smoke and do little excersise but I am not overweight.

Smoking constricts the blood vessels. As well the lack of exercise affects circulation. If you stand in one place too long, you will develop varicose veins. It is not uncommon in the military. My former biology teacher in high school apparently enjoyed getting his jollies with the guys in the bunkers. I guess he would know and he told me so. Try rubbing Fruit of the Earth cocoa butter into your legs and wearing supportive pantyhose.

When I turned 28 I already had been in pain, embarrassed, and scared of becoming pregnant. I didn't want my big blue varicose veins to get worse. The All Natural Varicose & Spider Vein Solution program was an easy read and easy to do. Within 21 days there was a big difference in how my legs looked and I can wear shorts without feeling embarrassed. I feel so much better with more energy and for giving me back a healthier body, and the legs that a 28 year old should have.

try support tights or stockings to relieve the pain. then go and see your G.P and he will advise that you stop smoking asap. when you have given up you are then eligible to have the veins surgically stripped which works wonders, but only if you stay off the ciggies sorry about that, but thats life eh. hope you get on ok

Invest in a couple of pairs of support hose. They work.
