Is it cheating when you have a male friend that you've known for years and have been talking to and seeing (but nothing sexual), and you hide it from your husband?

Well if you are hiding it then it is not exactly honest and open is it? Cheating is not just about sex. You can cheat by sharing thoughts, feelings, and emotions with another person and not sharing them with your wife or husband. Men generally except that women do this with their girlfriends, but with a man makes it all different. If you tell your husband that you have a platonic man friend and he is OK with it, then it is not cheating... if you hide it from him it is. Why do so many people post the same question here? Rule #1: If you are asking if it is cheating then it probably is.

Why do you feel you have to hide it from your husband??? if it's just an old friend you're socializing with then wheres the harm .... if it's something that will threaten an otherwise happy marriage ..then yes it is a form of cheating cause although it may not be sexual it will hurt your husband
We each need our own space and our own friends ... but these shouldn't be secret friends ... that only leads to suspicion and acusations

Well I wouldn't class that as cheating, but if your partner found out I'm sure he would. I know if it was my boyfriend seeing sum1 behind my back and keeping it a secret i would find it very hard to believe that they hadn't done anything 2gether, otherwise why hide it. I would put a stop to it before your husband finds out, or if it really is as innocent as you say why not tell your husband?

The fact that you're hiding it from your husband can be considered cheating. Besides, if u don't think you're doing anything wrong then why hide it from him? My guess is your husband won't approve of it.

It's not cheating, but it IS wrong. Married couples, hell, couples in general, should not have secrets from each other. And if they truly trust each other, then they shouldn't feel threatened that their significant other is talking to another. BUT, that being said, jealousy is pretty much human nature. And if you really want your husband to understand, you need to talk to him about it, and not let him find out, and then you have to explain it to him on the defensive.

It depends on why you hide it. Are you afraid that your husband will get mad? If so, why would he get mad? Is there more than a simple friendship involved? There must be something you are hiding. So yes, it is cheating if you are afraid to tell your husband.

Cheating is having a sexual and/or romantic relationship which you hide from your partner. Your situation is baffling to me because I need to know how long has this 'meeting him and talking' has been going on. You know your hubby, we don't. It looks, since you are here asking us, that you feel either guilty or frightened. How 'bout writing it in :details"??
