Michelle, I do this every year, but not a very large scale I am afraid. I called the hospital and talked to the social worker there. She was very friendly and helpful. What I and a couple of my friends did was this...coloring books and crayons, stuff animal,
play-doh, cards like old maid, fish, little chalk boards and easers, those black felt marker coloring posters. Things that children could play with in the bed on their hospital trays.

Please give the hospital a call, and they can give a guideline to go by. I just mentioned my plans to a couple of friends and they wanted to help to. We are called Santa's little helpers. We also give toys to needy families, and food baskets out. Just wished there was more money to buy more things. You started right, you care enough to ask, and you got the heart, so just jump in with both feet. There's no right or wrong. I think it's wonderful of your family to do this, just think what a great Christmas that the children you are going to give to are going to have! It's worth every penny and more!

God bless us all................

My family does this every year for the Children's Hospital in Seattle as both my niece and my son have been treated there...my niece had heart surgery there when she was 13 days old and my son was born almost 3 months early and spent 10 weeks there. We collect toys, games, stuffed animals, journals (for the teens), pens, makers, etc. You can contact your local Children's Hospital and they should have a list of items that are needed, and for which ages.

First, I would call the local hospitals to see if they have a need for such items and ask them for suggestions. I think stuffed animals can always be comforting to ill patients, whether children or adults. They tend to cuddle with them when they need support and are lonely. Especially in the Adjusted Living areas where they sometimes can have live animals with them.

The front desk at the hospital can give you information or direct you to whoever is in charge of donations. They are the people you need to talk to first and foremost.

you speak to your childrens school. Before hand go to the childrens hospital and tell them that. They shuld be tehe best one to tell you what you need to do.

Goodluck.

I am so happy for you I might do the same thing, or atleast donate my old fluffy toys.

do you have an area newspaper with free ads? we do here and that would be one way to get started. Get a large church to help you. Get the Rotary Club or similar to help out.

try and negotiate with toys for tots or saint Jude or somebody like that (toys for tots and saint Jude really don't specialize in events like that I'm just using them as an example) or you could do a local fundraiser
