It's not too late to try to let your baby nurse.
Or are you on some medication or something that makes it so you can't nurse?
Your body automatically begins to make milk when you give birth. If you are trying to NOT make milk, I'd suggest avoiding pumping very much as that would be a signal to your body to keep making milk. Cold packs on your breasts can help with the discomfort. Wear cabbage leaves in your bra. Take warm/hot showers and let the water spray on your breasts. This may let a little milk leak out and help make you more comfortable. Ibuprofen is also good for any discomfort from the swelling.

If you pump, the milk will keep producing, so if you don't want your baby to have your milk, then you'll have to suffer a little bit until you dry up. Warmed cabbage leaves work well to relieve discomfort, and something in the cabbbage helps dry it up. But if you have the milk, don't let it go to waste, breast feeding is challenging at first, but be patient with yourself. It's a learned skill that both you and the baby will need to master. Your milk ducts are probably starting to plug up, so Take a hot shower to help the pressure, but try not to express any. Good Luck

If you have sore breasts and you have your baby in the last several weeks, it is normal and there is a period of adjustment to making or ceasing to make milk.
If you have a fever at all, get to the doctor right away. I had mastitis with my first daughter. I got so sick so fast, I do not have a clear memory of it. It just took antibiotics to get rid of it, but that was the worst fever I ever had.
If it lasts more than a day or two, call your doctor. In fact, if you are too uncomfortable, call your doctor now. Ob/gyn's are used to waking up at all hours or call the hospital where you delivered and ask a nurse in the birthing area. They may have suggestions that will help you.
I also had breast engorgement as a menopause symptom! I went to the doctor and he thought it was no big deal, but I was so uncomfortable!
It will pass.

Warm compresses will help your milk release. If you want to save it get out a pump or even a couple of bottles.
Sit and relax and then place a hot /warm compress on your breasts. make sure the bottles are placed so they can catch the milk letting down. You can save Breast milk in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Pump, feed, hand express if you are BFding. All I can say I wrap your chest up REALLY tight! Try not to take a hot shower. Yes it will help you get un engorged, but later it will be worse!!! Lay on your stomach if you can. The pressure will also help it quit hurting faster!!!! Good luck to you!!! Need anything else, just ask!!!

Take a warm wet towel and wrap it around your breasts
Take a warm shower and then try to express milk by squeezing your nipples
Either breastfeed when you can or put everytime you feel engorged but dont breastfeed

if you're breast feeding, express some milk, take a warm shower. if you're not breastfeeding you just kinda have to deal with it. take some ibuprofen or some type of otc pain reliever and wrap something around them pretty tight and that may help a little also. good luck!!! it'll feel better soon.

I wrapped a sheet around me tight for about an hour and it begane to release pressure. There is also something else you can try. Starting from the top corners of your breast, massage them towards your nipple. It doesn't relase 100%pressure, but it helps.
