Yes. Provided we use it in a proper way. We can even get peace of mind and love of people and grace of God by spending money to help the needy besides satisfying our basic material needs.
Money may not be everything but is an absolute necessity in the modern world. Of course it should be earned in a righteous way.
Earning money should not be an end in itself but should be a means to an end.

there are many things that money can't buy. we like to think that if a person has lots o money, he is a satisfied person. but its not a fact. grass always looks greener on the other side, that does not mean a rich man would like to change places with a poor man. but see the way a poor man sleeps with no worries in the world, a rich man could never experience that. so though money is important to buy many things it cannot buy us everything we want.

Why does everyone has to say that we cannot buy love.
Yes, one cannot buy love.

(Another answer said we can buy love, but then it wud be fake or purely devoted towards the money and not the human)..lol.

But then, can anyone but SUN, PLUTO, etc too. No one owns it, so how can one BUY it if there is no seller? ;)
Yes, one can be fooled to buy a plane. But again, the buyer won't have the legal right on it, or wud he ? ;)

NOTE: A person claims that he bought a small plot on the moon (Soruce: indian newspaper) .... 8-).. niceeeeeee

If nothing is owned by a human, it automatically goes in the name of the government. But pluto comes under Indian government or American governement ??? ;)
lol...

In the end, I'll say that one "can" buy MANY things with money but "not" EVERYthing.

Still Money (moolah) rocks man !! ;)

You can't buy more years to add to your life. You can buy healthy foods and workout but you can't go to a store and buy more years. Money will not buy past or future experiences. Say you wanted to live like it was 1950 or you wanted to live 500 years from now.
