OK I don't know about you, but round about where I live "Xmas" usually starts on the 6th November nowadays. Right after Guy Fawkes Night, thats when the "Xmas" hype starts.
But would it be possible this year- for the sake of everyone's sanity- to ABSOLUTELY BAN the incessant playing of the Slade single "Merry Xmas Everyone"..? I hate it with a vengeance and I think most people do, nowadays. In fact this banal, idiotic tune is one of the things I dread most every year.
If the strength of public feeling was expressed strongly enough do you think all the shops would GET THE MESSAGE and stop playing this seedy, tacky and irritating tune?

Ban Slade? Are you completely MAD.

When I first hear it each year, that's when I know Christmas has begun.

It's a classic. Ban it, and you might as well ban Turkey, presents, Christmas Trees and the Queen's speech (though the latter is probably not a bad suggestion!)

And what town do you live in - because Christmas starts in August in Middlesbrough?!!

It's a great song but I can understand why you don't like it being overplayed - many of the best songs are ruined if they are overplayed... I always used to love 'Hysteria' by Muse but then it was overplayed so I don't like it any more so I can see where you are coming from. As for other great Christmas songs, I think 'Do they know it's Christmas' by Band-Aid is up there with the best.

I firmly believe that Noddy Holder has been infirnging this countrys Human Rights ever since he sang that shite.

Whilst we're at it what about banning Evertyhing Cliff Richard has ever sung and also that crap Wizard came up with. There is something very unsavoury about the video that accompanied that Xmas bag if bile.

The Slademeisters rock - it aint Chrimbo without them. I suggest you need to lighten up and learn to have fun.

The song that p*sses me of is Johnny Bloody Mathis 'When a Child Is Born'. That does bring out violent tendancies in me. Especially the speaking bit in the middle - argh!!!

It wouldnt be the same withut the cheesy christmas songs! I agree they start far too early though. If we're not careful, we will be bored with christmas by the end of October.

Personally I think there are better candidates for banning

White Christmas
Frosty the Snowman
Walking in the air.

To name but three.
