Sophia - Pronounced: so-FEE-a - Means "wisdom" in Greek. This was the name of an early, probably mythical, saint who died of grief after her three daughters were martyred.
Rachael - Pronounced: RAY-chel - Means "ewe" in Hebrew. She was the favourite wife of Jacob and the mother of Joseph and Benjamin in the Old Testament.
Hmm...Wisdom verus an Ewe...hard choice...
I like Sophia a million times better. It makes me think of flowers, sunshine, a happy woman.
Rachael is a lot harsher sounding name.

They are both nice so wait til your baby is born and see if she looks more like a Rachael or a Sophia.

I like the name Sophia better. It's more unique than Rachael. Plus, I always associate the name Rachael with skanky girls...don't ask me why that is.

They are both pretty names. There are some names that never go out of style and those are two of them. They are both very feminine names, even kind of elegant. I am having a hard time trying to answer your question, I like both of them. I guess I'd have to say that I like Rachael, although I could change my mind tomorrow. It's just a great name. It doesn't roll of your tongue like "Sophia", but I just think that it's a feminine, yet strong name for a woman.
I post an intelligent, thoughtful answer, yet get a thumbs down? Whoever did it, SCREW YOU!!

i believe sophia sounds very pretty. if this is for a babys name, sometimes i wonder if it isnt better to choose the babys name until the child is born. i believe you have to see the child first and see what name suits the child. a baby is a indiviual, with a indiviual look all his or hers. a name should be picked out for a child then, not just under any name.

definately sophia, because it's not as common and it just sounds cute.
Rachael is not cute, I know allot of fat girls called rachael, and even if I didn't, the name is still not cute!
