Since I'm in all Honors classes, I'm applicable of taking the PSAT as a freshman. Any tips?! Thanks! :)

You probably won't have the same q/a's as me, but if you have a question regarding a train going through a tunnel at like 20 m/s, the answer is 1200. ;)

Yeah, I'm a sophomore and I took it three days ago. It was pretty easy, in my opinion. As long as you can think straight (organize systems of equations based on word problems), use basic logic, do pretty-basic algebra, and know your English well, everything will be fine (speaking of English, that was totally a run-on :d)

Honestly, just get a good night's sleep and try your best. the PSAT counts for absolutely _nothing_. It's GOOD that you are taking it as a freshman, because the purpose of the PSAT is to let you know what areas you need to improve in! After getting the results, you will know what topics you are shaky in, and will be able to study hard in the specific subject(s) accordingly. So don't worry about getting the best score, or doing absolutely perfect. All you have to do, as a freshman, is try your hardest and improve for the next time you take it.

Oh oh. Also. The PSAT, unlike a lot of other standardized tests that you have probably taken, TAKES OFF 1/4 a point for filling in an incorrect answer, and TAKES OFF NO POINTS for leaving an answer blank (and gives 1 point for a correct answer, duh!). This means that you should NOT guess and make sure that you fill in every question, as that may simply reduce your score! Unless you can limit the possible correct answers down to 2 possibilities (or, if you know the answer, go ahead and bubble that in of course), do not guess! In addition, this is a timed test (of course), and it is not meant to be easy test, time-wise. If you spend more than say 30 seconds trying to figure out what to do to solve a problem, SKIP IT, circle the question # on your answer sheet (to remind yourself to go back to it), and go on to another question. You want to get as many correct answers as possible. There's lots of other test-taking strategies, but this is probably the most vital.

Good luck!!

Well wt you heard is right. They take of 1/4 point everytime you get the answer incorrect and if you get it incorrect you get a point. If you leave it blank they dont take of anything or give you anything. The best thing you could do is if you could eliminate some of your choices then take a guess, if you cant then skip it and come back to it at the end. To review well now just try to remember your vocab for english and math. Thats pretty much it. Its graded as I said. There will be like 48 questions for Critical reading and then 30 questions for math and also their are grid ins for math. Make sure you put them in right. YOU CANNOT PUT MIXED FRACTION IN THEM. Change them to improper ones. Also make sure you are putting them in the right coloumn and completing them correctly. You should check that before you go. There is a writing section too. You should not worry much about that. Usually you get good grades if you have good english. I think you do as I see your questions.Thats all. Good luck

Don't worry. Just make sure you know a decent amount of geometry (trigonometry and stuff). 1 part is just putting sentences together, another2 parts are reading comprehension, and there are 2 math parts. I don't find it hard at all (I'm a junior who takes CP classes).

They take off 1/4 of a point for answering wrong, and they give you 1 point for answering it correctly. If you don't know what the answer is, just skip it (leave it blank) and no, they don't penalize you for doing that.

Too late to study, so sleep well and eat a good breakfast. You need to take your calculator and plenty of #2 pencils. Remember that guessing is penalized. They take off more points for a wrong answer than they do for leaving it blank.

Good Luck!

GET TO BED. And go to sleep. Don't worry. You will do fine if you are getting good grades. Eat something in the morning and give yourself plenty of time to get there. Make sure that you are hydrated and that you have emptied your bladder.

Good luck. It won't be as bad as you think.
