I'm convinced I'm pregnant (just trust me!!!) and I read about ladies who don't get positive blood and/or urine results until the 3rd-4th-5th month. These women find out usually by pelvic exams or ultrasounds. How do I convince my doctor to give me these, if I haven't tested positive? Is there a clinic I should go to instead? Anyone out there who tested positive later than usual? What did you do?? Thanks for any input!

I have never heard of someone being pregnant and testing negative on a blood test...It just might be wishful thinking...the blood test should be able to detect it in your blood.

An ultrasound may not be the way to go because they may not see anything if it's too soon. But the cervical check will help- they can tell by weather it's open or closed and how thick it is and the color as to weather you are pregnant or not. Tell your dr that he gets paid to do things and for your own peace of mind you would like him to perform the exam. If he finds nothing then you'll leave him alone for a while. But to be honest if it's not showing up on a urine and a blood test chances are you are either not pregnant or it's not a very strong pregnancy because the HCG hormone should be in your blood right away and be rising. Why doesn't the dr just take your blood a few days in a row and then see if the levels are elevating?

Unless you have some kind of cancer (which drops your HCG levels) then a negative test usually is right. The blood test are VERY accurate. Because HCG is present in both the blood and urine of a pregnant woman, laboratory diagnosis of pregnancy is relatively easy. A standard laboratory pregnancy test determines the presence of HCG in the urine by combining urine and test materials either in a test tube or on a glass slide. A certain reaction occurs if HCG is present, but it does not occur if there is no HCG or if there is too small an amount to react.

Even if you were pregnant they would not be able to see anything on an ultrasound till you were further along. When I was 7 weeks I had one done and the baby was no bigger than a peanut. They would however be able to tell with an exam, to see if your cervix are softening.

A baby cannot survive in a mothers system without the required HCG hormone who's presence a pregnancy test is designed to detect. The hormones are sometimes slow to increase. In my own case they didn't show at any great quantity until I was 6 weeks pregnant and that is late for detection. At 5 and 6 months pregnant if you are still having negative results then it is time well and truly to face the fact that the desire to be pregnant is so overwhelming that you may just be convincing your body against it's will that it is pregnant. These are called Phantom pregnancies. I am terribly sorry but you can see your doctor if you like but I have to believe the reason you are putting this on Yahoo and not talking to your doctor ir because deep down you know you're not pregnant but you want to maintain the fantasy by getting someone to agree with you. I'm very sorry.

For those who had false readings until the 3-5 month, they could have been tubal pregnancies or molar pregnancies that are complicated. Because in most normal cases the tests are accurate to a T. If you still suspect this then you could be having a complicated or at risk pregnancy. I would go to the ER and have them do a u/s or alternative test to double check as it could be very harmful to you. I am not trying to scare you but if you are sure of this and the tests are reading incorrectly then u/s or blood testing will prove without a doubt. And if you are not and ttc then just keep a positive mind and keep on trying...

If you have a reasonable assumption that you are pregnant (missed period, morning sickness, fatigue, etc), then it is your doctor's duty to find out what the cause of the maladies are. If he/she is not willing to do this, you should find yourself another doctor that is. If you do not have any symptoms (and really think about whether you do - when you think you are pregnant, it's easy to imagine the symptoms), and the tests are still coming out negative after about 2 months since you think you conceived, there is an infinitesimally small chance that you are indeed pregnant, and you need to set the issue aside.

Actually, if you want to know, just go to a doctor. If it's just an ultrasound examination, you don't have to undergo lots of stuff and you won't really have a hard time convincing your doctor to allow you. After all, that kind of examination is quite simple. In our country, you could go straight to an ultrasonologist and have an ultrasound. However, only after some months you will know the gender of your baby. :D Good luck!

go to the er and tell them you ARE pregnant and you are having real bad stomach cramps and they WILL give you a pelvic exam or an ultrasound. trust me.... it worked for my friend twice. if they say you are not pregnant then tell them that a pregnancy test told you that you are. if they ask how you know then tell them you had a test done

thats true in some cases with a urine test but never a blood test. If your blood test is negative then I'm sorry, but your not pregnant. If you go on thinking this way you can acutally trick your body into thinking you are.
