I use to be. I was a bartender in a strip club and he buries people for a living. Now I work for the state and he's going back to school to be an elementary teacher and we'll both be broke.
Money isn't everything!

Yes. I make twice what he does. Don't get me wrong, my husband has a well paying job. I have a management position though and do very well.
When we started dating I was just an hourly supervisor and he made more than me at that time, but over the past 5 years I have advanced much further. It's not an issue for us. I bring home the bacon, and he really appreciates all I do and the hours I put in. I haven't done dishes or laundry in years :) He takes care of almost all housework and mowing the lawn.

As a guy who does computer work, I have had two women who also were in computer work hold it against me that they made more dollars than I. We did not marry.
It should not matter, but somehow it seems to, both in the eyes of the couple and in the eyes of the greater society.
I remember once my father a Doc and apparently some of his friends were SO P.O'ed that a very nice lady pharmasist was working full time and her husband had been laid off and was for now a full time house-husband. Both the lady and more the guy had lost his respect. ME .. I thought it terrible, but I have seen this more than once.
It can be managed, but culturally we want the man to be the strong provider. oh well.

my long term girlfriend makes a lot more than me.. It's not an issue at all as long as she never uses it against me.. She knows this and is pretty good about it.. mostly we just laugh about it. I try hard and she knows it and I think that's all that matters.

Well I'm not quite married yet (I'm only 15) but me and my boyfriend are probably gonna be together for a long time (we're best friends for now). I wanna be a pharmacologist and he wants to be a vet. A pharmacologist makes way more than a vet!
