A few hours ago I got up to stretch and suddenly I collapsed to the floor. Everything went black and I was dizzy for a few seconds, or at least thats what it seemed like.

I was working out about 20 minutes after, if that helps.

I get that fairly often, I asked my doc about it and he said it's nothing to worry about. but everyone is different, so I would probably at least call the doctor.

If this event was triggered as indicated by some of the others suggest, it is a problem with the hydrostatic blood pressure. The instant increase in blood pressure to account for the required energy for that particular movement. Something that should be brought to your doctors attention.

That happens to me every so often, it's a headrush. But if it happens to you every time you may need to go to a doctor it could be a serious problem. Sometimes when I get up fast my vision goes black and I feel dizzy. But you may want to take it easy after that has happened.

Depends on your age, health status (diabetes, blood pressure problems, etc. ), meds you are taking, possibility you were dehydrated, too many variables for a safe answer except to say at least phone your Dr. and ask what he/his nurse advises.
Could be just getting up too fast, could be a symptom of anything from a brain tumor to hypoglycemia.
Best not to take chances with your health.

you probably just have orthostatic hypotension, but you should be seen anyways. be careful not to move too quickly when first standing up from a sitting or lying position.
