Recycle them. There is a fair amount of lead in them among other things. And the display tube itself is dangerous as a grenade if shattered. There are electronics recyclers in most major cities and drop offs in smaller towns usually. Be forwarned that you might be charged about 20 dollars for it though because you are doing the enviroment a favor, but its a lot of work for the recycler. Or there is always goodwill or freecycling it to friends and family if its still in working order.

some give them away others throw to the curb some recycle and some just sell off in the bargin finders papers
