You have to sleep with your head raised slightly higher than the usual. Moreover, this disease is curable and you should worry about getting it cured at the earliest.

If sleeping on your side relieves your "reflux" you don't have reflux.
True acid reflux is when the stomach contents bubble up into the esophagus at the top of the stomach.....this is painful because the stomach acid will erode the esophagus.
Try sleeping in an upright position of at least 30 degree incline (two or three pillows should do) and if you need more help...
Prilosec is available over the counter (in the US) in other countries it is labeled omeprazole.
If you can't get that try drinking a tablespoonful of baking soda mixed in 6 ounces of water...baking soda will neutralize stomach acid on contact.
Get yourself checked out by a doctor as soon as possible
Acid reflux can be very serious because the damage done by stomach acid can be very severe and extensive.
Good luck !!

Sleep on your left side. The stomach curves to the left, so lying on your left can help. Don't eat an hour or two before going to bed. I take prescription medication for acid reflex and it's wonderful to be able to live without heartburn. Nexium is my preferred medicine, but Prilosec is good too and most insurances will have it in their generic list and cover it.

Get yourself some Zantac (it's over the counter) or any of the generic brands of Acid Reducing Medicines available over the counter. If it still persists, you should see a doctor, as severe acid reflux can actually erode your esophagus and cause much worse problems. Also, try not to eat at least two hours before going to bed. I have been awakened in the middle of the night with reflux, so, I feel your pain. Hope this helps.

'dumplingmuffin' is NOT a nurse---please don't take that seriously....
Sleeping upright may relieve symptoms----but there's a whole lot more to it than that.
You didn't give much info---is the reflux an actual diagnosed condition? Or is that what you think it is from things you've read? Do you have meds for it? If so, are they not working?? If it hadn't been diagnosed as that, "officially", you might be wise to get some further medical work-ups.
You aren't going to "get rid of" acid reflux, whatever the cause.
Screw the "thumbs-down" peeps---it's the truth.

The acid reflex is something that happens in your stomach. There is no 'right' side for you to sleep on to get rid of it.

That disease is very serious ... I have had it for many years ... and left untreated can cause you major difficulties in your later years ......... sleeping on one side or the other never seemed to help me ... I suggest you see your Dr. and get a Nexium prescription from him .. they are AWESOME and work great.

I just read this in "Curves" magazine. Sleep on your left side, and don't eat right before going to bed.
