Why do people "text" each other on cell phones, when it's quicker to call the person?

Gawd, I find this so annoying and time consuming.. (my opinion)

i think only people who are dumass they do all this stuff. it takes so much time to type a text on cell & it takes the same price to call a person for 1 min & to write 1 text.by the way you look HOT.

It is easier and safer to text someone while sitting in a classroom.
Sometimes you have to say something without personally(voice--real time)
interacting with the other party.
The other party is not in a position to answer your call,and you can't keep trying his number.(eg. in a very crowded place,no cell phone(use) zone.

When my family communicates with other family in the philippines, it's cheaper to text message than to talk on the phone.

The kids I know that do it run out of minutes on their cells but can still text and they do it so fast it's amazing. They type faster than I talk, lol, and they can talk while they type!

I do it because you can send each other basic details about how things are going, and can avoid talking on and on with someone, because we all know people who just never stop talking.

i think its allright maybe you dont want to talk to someone but you gotta let them know something. i hate talking on the phone. i wish there were text messeging only.

Because when you text, you can get right to the point. Instead of all the "hellos" "how's it going?" "what are you doing" "okay, bye now"

I send texts whenever it would be inappropriate to call the person. (if i'm at work, the movies, etc.)

you just don't want to get in a long boring conversation with someone when all you need is a simple answer to a question.
