Marijuana is illegal. There are people in prison for life for growing or having it for personal use. What about alcohol, a drug that kills thousands on our highways, destroys lives and is highly addictive?

Marijuana is worse, because it's illegal. Alcohol's not.

Alcohol has been proven to be worse. When using Marijuana most people do not smoke like they would a cigarette which cuts down on the carginogens (sp?) since less is smoked to obtain the "high".

Alcohol is related to serious liver problems. There are also 10,000-20,000 deaths every year due to drivers under the influence of alcohol. Not to mention that around 100,000 people die per year in the US due to use alone.

There has never been one reported death as a direct result of marijuana use. Also Alcohol is HIGHLY addictive. Marijuana is NOT addictive. It can become mentally addictive but not physically. Therefore, alcohol is MUCH more harmful.

Alcohol is a highly addictive hard drug that makes people loud and aggressive. If you drink a lot, you have a hangover the next day.

Marijuana is a soft drug, it's not physically addictive and it just makes people drowsy and passive (some would say: boring). If you smoke a lot, you won't have a hangover the next day.

All in all, I'd say that alcohol is worse.

Alcohol definitely kills, in a lot of ways. It kills your body, your spirit, your mind, your heart. It destroys families...it kills innocent people..........but basically, the truth is, it makes alot of money for the people who are really just, legally, corrupt.

Marijuana is not as nearly as bad for you as alcohol, but I don't think the government and big corporations could paten, and sell it, so they can't make a profit off of it, so they keep it illegal. Anything that can't be patented and mass produced for profit is controlled or suppressed.

People can grow pot in their houses, but how easy is it to make wine, or grow tobbaco. Much harder.

Natural cures for disease and disorder are out there, but they are suppressed, because the pharmecuetical industries get to make huge profits off the sick from the toxic drugs that they paten and give out to us like candy.

People are getting sicker, not healthier. I say, all the time, follow the money.

In moderation alcohol is not as bad as Marijuana. You are right though...alcohol has caused just as many problems. I grew up with an alcoholic step father who was very abusive and eventually ended up dying of a drug overdose. It is like what is worse of two evils...both have a tendency to corrupt and destroy.

It has been statistically proven: Alcohol kills more people than all illegal drugs combined. If that wasn't enough, people don't get belligerent and beat their wives or start fights when they're high, they don't puke all over your couch, they don't get sent to the hospital with weed poisoning. There's no hangover from weed, so you can be functional next day with no recovery time. It's so obvious. Why don't people get it????

Yep. Ya hit the nail on the head there. Our founding fathers (in America) smoked pot while dealing with the Indians (as they were called at the time), it's not physically addictive, but habitual, and it doesn't impair your judgement as badly. And, there's no easy way for the police to check you for usage, so you don't worry as much while driving down the road.

And I haven't burned one in 15 years, but I'm drunk now. Go figure.

I don't know for sure but I know that I've seen more fights due to alcohol than marijuana.

both should be legal. but, both could be controlled. you're right, pot is the least of our worries, and people are dying for no reason. this could and should be a truly marketable and taxable product. i think you should include smoking cigarettes in your question. i think THAT is the cause of more deaths than any other consumer product, and its the most widely accepted. ironic and stupid.
