Who told you that...? I've read all the reprints of the original Popeye stories from the newspapers from when he was first introduced up through WWII, and I never saw any. I think this is just one of those urban legends, something that people with more imagination than common sense make up, or they inflate a few coincidences into something salacious. And besides, why would you care...?
