I don't want to hear from diehard Cards or Tigers fans. All Cards and Tigers fans aside - what are the Cardinals pros and cons from the view of an outside spectator?

Wow; don't everybody answer at once...

Are the Cards chances THAT bad that no one has anything nice to say...?!

I am a lifetime Tiger fan, even during the bad years of the mid-1970's and since 1992. I think that the Tigers have a stronger team.

That said, of course the Cardinals can win, these are not a Class A minor league team, they are skilled major leaguers. The Tigers are favorites but the Cardinals have Albert Pujols; he can carry a team just like Reggie Jackson used to do. I just hope that the Tigers ignore the media and fans handing them the Series just like it was handed to the Yankees two weeks ago.

I'm an Ohio Yankee fan and I think the Cardinals will go all the way. They've been so close lately, it's time for them to win the WS this year. Look at Suppan, he's gotten so much better the second half of the season. And as long as Pujols keeps cranking out homers, they have a greater chance. Cardinals to win, in a hard-fought seven games.

GO CARDINALS!

I don't think the Cards can win it. They were not the best team in the NL over the season, and the entire NL did abysmally against the AL overall during interleague play. With the exception of the last few weeks of the season, the Tigers WERE the best team in the AL. As a Yankee fan, I have to root against the Tigers, who humiliated my team, but i don't see how the Tigers could lose, really. The Tigers are a unit-they don't overly rely on one person. The Cards fell apart mid season when Pujols was on the DL.

I would really LIKE to see St. Louis trounce Detroit, but really don't expect it.

Yeah here is Sydney Australia I think they are a big chance (but not in Game One). Remember when Boston went down 3-0 against the Yankees, won then next 4 straight and they swept the WELL RESTED St Louis Cardinals? Well though Detroit are also well rested and have some decent enough pitching, there is no reason Pujols Bat has to cool, Molina can continue to swing away and St Louis can fight their way to the Tittle. The $1.47 offered by Sportsbook.com.au seems way too short for mine!

And also Pudge Rodriguez (Detroit Catcher) has a massive steel statue of himself in his backyard, if he wins another tittle (Florida) his head will explode, seriously!!! What a wanker!! Sure he can gun people out, but Jordan has the a statue at the from of the Stadium, he didnt build one in his backyard to worship himself.

I am a dodger Fan. And i have to say yes they do have a chance. And a good one. Rolen will pick it up in this series as well as Puljos. That middle line up is going to be very hard to get through three times.(If the Detroit starting pitchers make it that far). Not only that but they have allot of experience. They know what it takes to win games and that's what matters. Detroit's pitching is young(besides rogers) and they will make errors on the experienced batters in the Cardinals line up. Its going to be a good series i think. Should be over in 5 or 6. Also, middle relievers are good for St. Louis. I like the way Flores has been pitching and if he keeps it up they should be good. Zumaya and Rodney throw allot of fastballs. And i think that's whats going to hurt them the most.So yes they, i think they will win.

I'm a huge Mets fan. I don't know 'bout Anthony Reyes, he sounds a bit shaky to me. I think Jeff Suppan, Chris Carpenter, Yadier Molina, Jim Edmonds, Albert Pujols will help the Cards a lot. Cons: As I said, Anthony Reyes, Scott Rolen and David Eckstein ('cause he hurt his shoulder a bit when playin' against the Mets) are a bit shaky right now. Oh yeah, they might wanna use So Taguchi as a pinch hitter.

I'm in Illinois, I think the Cards can win.
Who was the best team in baseball in 2002? It sure wasn't the Angels, but they won the whole thing. 2003? Definitely wasn't the Marlins and they won. 2004? The Red Sox were tough, but not the best by any means in the regular season. How bout 1987? The Twins sure weren't half the team the Cardinals had, but Jack Clark got injured and the Twins play in that toilet bowl called the Metrodome.
Anything can happen in the World Series.

I think they have the same chance as Detroit. Looking at the last few champions, none have had the best record. I'm rooting for the cards since they didn't win it against the Red Sox. And yes, I'm a Red Sox fan.

I'm in CA.
Both teams have great players ready to go to work. But . . .
I don't think the Cards can win unless they bring their A-game every time!
The Tigers are a superior team in my opinion but that doesn't mean they'll win.
It just means the Cards have to work that much harder for the win.

Good luck to both teams! : )
