I am 12 weeks pregnant and had the weirdest thing happen to me tonight. When I went to the bathroom and wiped (sorry tmi!) I noticed a teeny-tiny blood clot. I wiped again several times to be sure that this was all and it was. My question is... I know it's not normal to pass blood during pregnancy and maybe I am just over worrying about it because it was tiny, but do you think something could be wrong? What causes this? It was the smallest blood clot that I've ever seen. I told my stepmom about it and she said that maybe it was from the skin surface (like a scratch) and nothing dangerous but that I should keep checking to make sure it doesn't happen again. Anyone ever had this happen?

No. I have not had any cramping and the blood was less than spotting. It wasn't even a full drop. It was bright red and I do NOT believe that it is connected to any previous periods I may have had because I haven't felt like that at all the entire time.

I had a little spot of blood when I was pregnant, I told my OB that I was sure it was in my urine. He took it very seriously and ran a bunch of tests, it ended up just being a UTI, noting serious, but pretty painful.

You should call your OB- if it were a scratch you wouldn't have a clot like blood- it would just be a pot on the paper. Just call your dr. and let him/her know about the blood and they will either tell you to come into the office or go to the hospital. Better safe than sorry. In the mean time take it easy and don't do much and certainly don't lift anything. Good luck.

I have had cramping like my period is going to start the whole way through my pregnancy. My doctor told me that this is normal, as long as the pains don't become worse than what they would normally be around the time of my period. I also have had some spotting that my doctor and the second opinion doctor I went to told me was normal as long as it was just a little spotting and that it didn't happen very often.

Was it bright red? And did you have any cramping? You could be starting a misscarriage. If this continues or gets heavy and painful go to emergancy. Also if youre 12 weeks you could be experience what some women claim.. to have some bleeding around the time there period would be due.

To be honest I don't really think there is much to worry about, but when I was pregnant I was always worried. I felt that I would rather be safe than sorry. Obviously if you have any cramping call the emergency room, but just remember that if it would make you feel better to call and ask anyway it would be ok. If you worry about it then you are going to make matters worse, I'd make sure it is nothing to worry about myself.

Would this be the time of your period it you weren't pregnant? Sometimes you can have spotting if it is. Usually nothing to worry about unless your having cramping too. Should double check with your doctor just in case. Good luck!

your cervix is very tender in pregnancy sometimes sex will cause a bit of spotting in early pregnancy. Just call your doctor. I HAD spotting twice in this pregnancy once at 8 weeks once at 11 weeks the baby is perfect I'm now 30 weeks. My doctor said it was from cervix irritation.
