I have a friend I wrote to many years ago. Who is scheduled to be executed. I wrote as soon as I heard. I urge you to contact the governer. I ask you to go to tdcj ( texas dept of criminal justice) look over his case, google his name, case, and see if you too dont see a injustice. I live in seattle and the Green river Killer just got life and this young man whos been in jail since 17-18 one body gets death. I think life no parole or what ever would be more like it. I am not totally against the death penalty, or for it. I am just not for it as it stands now, and thats for sure. I am against the executing of kids( and I mean young adults too 0-22) young peoples brains are way too complex, and menatally insane. Plus why make deals for some and not others. I mean why killl him but not Gary Ridgeway, or countless other killers who should of got the same deal. What message is that. I am curious what you think. Please look up the case, ACT. If you feel the need. Look up the case and think!!!

I am not at all for the death penalty, I know there are some people who do horrible things, but life in prison without parole would be worse than death to me. Besides, there's a chance that people *innocent* of the crimes with which they are charged could die, that's just not worth it. That's nothing but more murder. What's his name/case, sweetie? You sound awfully upset, I hope things work out.

Kind of hard to look up the case with no info.....not even a name. Two problems already though....
1. Young minds are insane? Maybe that explains my 17 year old daughter. Seriously....they are not insane, they know the difference between right and wrong.
2. Many times I hear stories like this on TV. Some "kid" 18 or 19 murders someone and his family wants to tell you "he is a good boy. He goes to church and visits his Grandma". NO! Sorry, if he was tried and convicted of cold blooded murder under circumstances that warrant the death penalty then so be it. May God have mercy on his soul!

Even if I were on death row, wrongly convicted of murder and sentenced to death, I would still support the death penalty. Let me explain why. In the most extensive study on the deterrence effect of the death penalty, the summation states that on average 14 innocents will not be killed for every death penalty prosecution. If you were in a bank that was being robbed, and saw a chance to kill the crook if you risked your life to protect 14 others, would you? Or would you cower, let the crook go ahead and kill them all?

I am sorry there is no consistency from state to state or even courtroom to courtroom on this issue, but if the judges weren't agenda driven and trying to legislate from the bench, it would be consistently for the death penalty prosecutions and crime rates would be very low. Its the same problem with our war against terror. If we held to a consistent message that their terror efforts will net them a total loss of their desired effect, they would stop prosecuting their war to rule the world by terror.

i don't believe in the death penalty, and it seems a travesty that the state you kill someone in depends on whether you live or die. i know that texas is quite rigid in their death penalty, whereas other states don't even have it. there has been no conclusive evidence that having a death penalty deters crime; therefore, if a state does have the death penalty, it must be because they just like killing people. why is it okay for a state to kill people who kill people? seems hypocritical to me.
