heavy, it is more likely to streach out of shape, its a lot of stuff to haul around, small blocks you can take with you and work on in the doctors office, on a bus etc.

Pros - no connecting it together once you finish all the little patches
- no complicated pattern to follow, you could virtually do the whole thing while you watch television (little bit each night)
Cons - gets quite heavy
-you may want a complicated design and won't get it without piecing
Good luck..by the way, I prefer beading and wire work, a lot more fun and fulfilling. With crochet, I always ended up making the piece taper in accidentally.

I did a one-piece throw several years ago. Started out making a basic granny square, and just kept going. I started out with a cream color in the center (about 18 inches), then changed to a soft grey around that (12 inches), and then ended up with a burgundy around the edge (12 inches).
It is a large throw. I made it during the winter, so like the prior answer, I was nice and warm while I was working on it! It was bulky and heavy, but I only worked on it at home in the evenings so that was okay.
If this is something you want to take with you to work on (like on the bus commuting to work, etc.) you will probably want to do something in pieces. Again, like the prior answers, it depends on the size of the throw you want to make.

That would depend on how big the blanket would end up being and the thickness of the yarn you are using. Of course, the bigger the blanket, the more awkward it gets having to turn it around and such. But, then, if you're a cold natured person, it might help keep you warm while you are working on it......

Yes. It would be very heavy. It would be easier to crochet several pieces and join them.

na, it's really easy to do,and it don't get heavy of course unless you use a hugh size yarn and crochet two strangs together, then it will be heavy.

Pros: You can leisurely work on it
Cons: Not portable like one you would do in pieces
