Depends on the stranger. If I ever have to take public transportation, I totally stare out the window and ignore everyone. Too many crazies on the train.
But, at the Highland games or somewhere like that, I'll chat it up with people. Sure.

Depends on the stranger. If the stranger is an attractive female, then yes. If the stranger smells bad, or looks like a criminal, then no.

More comfortable than talking to my mother. Most days I'd rather talk to a serial killer than answer the phone when I see her on the caller ID! I'll talk with people on line at the store sometimes. But I dread going to parties and stuff where I won't really know anyone. Somehow, it's easier for me to talk to people I know I'll never see again.

I'm usually fine about talking to strangers as I love to talk to all people, if they are respectful . I love humour but not vulgarity.

Yes, once you feel alright about who you are, mixed with people experience, talking to unfamiliar people becomes easy.
