I know this is going to sound funny, but try sitting down before going into your bedroom closet and make a list of all your favorite clothes. Write until you can't think of any more then go in and remove those clothes and put them in your "keep" pile. THEN do some housekeeping and look at all the clothes you couldn't remember. If you haven't worn them in over a year, toss 'em. If you don't fit into them, toss 'em. If you like them because they are cute but they aren't comfortable, toss 'em. If you have more than 2 of something (for example, two cream colored long sleeve sweaters or two gray hoodies) toss all but two. Hopefully this helps you. I also feel better about the way my closet looks when I don't store my off season clothes in there during that off season. In the winter, box up those shorts and put them in storage somewhere. In the summer box up the sweaters! I've had great success with these methods and once you start with clothes you can carry the same ideas through the rest of your house. Another thing I love to do is take the clothes to a shelter, or church donation of some sort. Taking them to goodwill where they can be resold is nice, but knowing they are going to someone who actually NEEDS them and won't have to pay for them gives you such a great feeling. Good luck! You can do it!!

I used to also have this problem. The solution I found is to: First, get rid of anything that doesn't fit. If it has sentimental value, store it, but not in your bedroom. Second, if you haven't worn it in nine months toss it. Next, get the space saver bags on tv or home depot or places like that. They allow you to take the air out of the clothing and condense it down into smaller piles which fit better in the closet or in storage. This works great for seasonal clothes and for bedding, because the bags are reusable. I would suggest putting things in the clear totes, but then I just trip over the totes because I pull everything back out. But if it is stored out of the room or in bags that I have to refill, I usually stick with what is handy.

If you can't bear to part with your things but still know you need to. This the trick.
Put whatever it may be in a box. Set it aside out of the way. If you do not miss or need anything in the box in 6 months to a year, do not open the box, just take it to goodwill and let them have it.You will not get rid of these items if you start to go through them again. Remember you have already gone through them and you have not missed or needed them, so just let them go.
This works for me.

I have already done all of this....It should be in this section tonight. I gave alot of my clothes and stuff to charity and gave a mother and six kids all my decorations from easter to Christmas and now
when I see my decorations I feel real good about it. Start in one room and pick an object up and if you have not used it in over one year get rid of it...Afterwards you feel great as your house will take a new make over....
