Our daughter has a friend who is a boy and is 16 and shares a room with his younger sister. They seem fine with it so that's all that matters. If that is how you have to live you just accept it because at least they have a place to sleep that's safe and warm. It all depends on YOUR situation, not what others on this website tell you to do or not do. As long as you have a loving home the kids will adapt to their surroundings. We also knew of a family with 3 kids & only 2 bedrooms. The 2 girls shared a room and the boy had to make a little sleeping area for himself in the diningroom area (he lived there till he graduated HS). He was always an excellent student and a good kid. Now he's out of college and still doing well. Don't worry about little things-it's how everyone gets along that really matters in the end. Good Luck(whatever you choose to do).

Depends on their sex. A brother and sister should be given their own rooms before puberty hits. Siblings of the same sex, well, I'd say leave it up to them. Ask them what they'd like. At some point, usually around 12 or so, they'd want to get privacy.
It also depends on the age difference between the children.

I think all kids should have their own space, if they are able to. The earlier the better. They can have some privacy, a space for self expression, and a quiet place to be alone with their thoughts, and their homework!

anyone should have a separate bedroom if space allows. If space does not allow, it is unfortunate to share, but it must be done.

They should have separate rooms by the time they start school if they are of different sexes. Same sex siblings can share a room.
