China has found a stable government. It could do better IMHO, but right now, they seem to be successful and are moving in the right direction.

China is arguably the worlds largst growing global trading partner. Their balance of trade gives them most of our money in trade...and others. If they were to release it, it could affect the world economy. That said, they are hurt as much as we are.

They have the population, the resources and the opportunity to grow and influence asia, more than the US. Look at Korea...we could no defeat Korea even 50 years ago, because of China. Now we look for them to lead the stabilization of Korea...and they are. We cannot in the US.

They are training smart hard working people. We are struggling to and failing to educate our children as well as they were years ago. Who will provide the future lead for research and development in the future, given these facts?

These are not negative statement about China or the US, just observations. CHina deserves what they earn, so does the US.

The question is not about who will rule the world. Nobody does now, nor should anyone in the future. Who will have the most influence? That is an interesting question. I would say the US will have less, CHina will have more. That is OK as long as they are considerate

Because China has "ruled the world" in the past. Much longer then the West. I don't think they will rule the world, but become the largest economic power.

There's no way China can rule the world. Even if they have a lot of ppl, wat does that help ruling the world. No particular country can rule the world. Ceasar and Gengis Kahn are the two greatest military leaders in world, failed to do that back in the day. Now technology is advanced and most ppl are educated. No one will accept the scene that Chinese ppl ruling the world. Plus, Chinese ppl aren't the smartests. They're communists. I'm not sure about the world, but i'd rather kill myself than being ruled by communists. And many products from China is on the market becauz the labor in China is cheap, which doesn't help Chinese to have a chance to rule the world at all.

China may rule the world some day because it manufacturers so much. I was in the grocery store today. There was garlic and some spices grown in China. Can't we grow our own?!?

We could stop it from happening, but then where would we get all of the material things we have come to love? (read this with sarcasm please)

Actually, China is ruled by the world in some sence today.
In fact, that country is not as strong as most people think, there are lots of serious problems hided behind its seeming so-called boom.

It has nothing to do with industry. The fact that the Chinese people are reproducing faster than they are dying. there are 1 billion people in China. By 2050 that will probably be doubled or tripled, etc etc.
No other country can keep up with that rapid rate of reproduction.
