As of now, the Government wants to buy time. The opinion is divided. But, the point here is that the convicted person, has not chosen to seek Pardon. Is he to be given reprieve, when he has consciously decided to become a martyr. The President cannot act independently and hence, he has rightly forwarded the petition to the Home Ministry. Some of the intelligentsia, even including Justice Krishna Iyer, are against executing him. Let us see what happens in this case.

Afzal should not be hanged because , his hanging will not stop breeding up of the terrorist mindset. Death Penalty is not solution to the crime rate , in fact it has been seen that whichever countries have abolished death penalty from there legal jurisdiction , the crime rates have dipped. We have to think in terms of broader humanitarian cause not narrow mindset. Even if , we hang Afzal their will be hundreds , millions of Afzals born everyday. We have to come to roots of problems instead cutting the tree. This is only possible, when the governance improves in India and South Asia

Wait and Watch..is the policy we have to adopt.
It is the million dollar question haunting every true Indian minds.
Some selfish men and women are shouting for his clemency. If the clemency is given to the culprit, then why should the security should lay down their lives. Why should the courts deliver the verdict , in spite of knowing their rulings will not be honoured by the Government, if it does not suit it.
President is weighing the options, but the recommendations of the Central Govt., are yet to be received by him .
If he is given clemency, then it would be a saddest day in the history of the country.
The Supreme court is just for name sake or for poor, innocents who have no influence or do not belong to the minority community..

The recent SC verdict on AP Governor's handling of the mercy petition will make the Central Govt. to think twice if it had intentions of approving it.
He neither needs nor deserves mercy..
