You have to know that the crowd will love you for it and they, along with your family and friends will support it. And like the others said, practice in front of those close to you.
Also, when performing, (if you're still way shy) look into the crowd without making eye contact with anyone. Nobody will know that you're doing this.

I have much advice. I am a shy person like you, but I also had to get over stage frightness. I play the violin, piano, and cello. My greatest advice is to: Think about the music, why you love it, and what it means to you, this will keep your mind of the people. Also, imagine them as moving statues, yes, a little creepy, but try it. Think about the person who would get the solo instead...is that a good thing, or a bad thing? Just sing your heart out, and dont care what others think or say, for their opinion does NOT matter. Good Luck, and just do what you love.

Keep practicing in front of the mirror or practice in the shower. Face your fears. What i would do is, when you perform your solo[or anything else], pretend all the audiences are not there, no one is there, just yourself. Maybe that would make you less nervous. And if you say you really want to, then do it. This might be your only chance, next time there's a performance, the teacher [or who ever is in charge] might not pick you!!

Just go out and do your thing. once you just get out and do it youll feel better. I have been on stage many times and you never quiet get over stage fright, but that's a good thing, becuase if you don't it is said that your over confident and might mess up, stagefright gives you the adreniline to keep you on your toes. just practice and know your stuff.
Instead of looking AT the people look right above their heads, so your not making any eye contact, but it still appears that you are looking at them, I wish you luck, Im sure you'll be awesome

do it, do it, do it, do it, The worst that can happen will not happen and will not be the worst that can happen. You'll do great.
Also, about 30 minutes before the performance, if you practice well, take a break from reviewing the material and think or talk about something else. Trust yourself.
Finally, speak positive things about the performance everyday, as much as you can, up until the event. Positive thinking is more powerful than most people realize... You got it!

i recon if you really wanna go for it and do a solo then you should practise singing infront of a smaller audience (maybe a few people from school) and then gradually get to a bigger crowd. or just go out there and sing and dont take any notice of anyone in the audience. best thing to do is not to look at anyone! they will either make you laugh or wanna go bright red in the face!

I can't sing, but when I have to speak in public, I focus in on one or two people that I know or look friendly. And I talk to them. You do the same thing. Find a couple of people in the audience before you start singing to sing to. That way it feels like it's just you and them. Everyone else will disappear. I hope that helps. Good luck.

Just do it. A lot of performers are shy. Don't think about the audience, don't think about yourself. Focus on your song. Concentrate on knowing it perfectly and singing it the best you can. When your mission is accomplished acknowledge the applause graciously.

I have performed in front of crowds up to about 25,000 people.
My realization was that the people enjoy watching and listening to what I do, play guitar. So i just played and acted just like how I would if I was playing by myself.
Do what you do becuase you enjoy it, the audience is just along for the ride on your journey.

instead of thinking about how nervous you are, think about how cool it is to have this opportunity. and all you gotta do is practice in front of your friends and family. i went through the same thing and now i sing a lot! good luck :)
