The egg came first. This has always been the case. The reasoning is as such: Whichever species evolved into the chicken would have had to lay the first chicken-bearing egg in order for the chicken to have hatched from said egg, and since the egg came from a species that wasn't technically a chicken, the answer to your question is clear. The egg came first.

the chicken, cuz the egg came out of the chicken. so it morphed from some amoeba, became a chicken popped out an egg, and that is my theory.
