You need to get this checked out. Thrombophlebitis hurts but it should not make your arms to be immobilized. I would go to an Emergency Dept and get a Venous Doppler study of that arm to make sure you have adequate circulation in that arm. If you have done that and everything is fine then only time and some warm compresses will help. warm up some face towels in the microwave; careful not to hot and apply 4-5 times a day. Good luck

You have a blood clot from an IV. This happens a lot when a pt. in the hospital receives a lot of IV fluids and meds through a single IV site. You should have had treatment in the hospital for it like warm soaks and blood thinners, possibly. I've never seen this be a permanent injury but the immobility is puzzling. Ask your Dr.

Yes. The clot will be absorbed and the inflammation in the vein will gradually get better. If the doctor okays it, use warm, moist packs on your arm 3 or 4 times a day to speed the healing process. Good luck & be well!

I had the same thing happen, but in my hand. I took an aspirin a day and it finally cleared up after about 6 weeks. Yours sounds a little more serious though. I hope you've talked to your doctor about it.

yes it will return after the inflammation subsides...u can hasten the process by elevating the affected arm and use of warm compresses.

I would hire a malpractice lawyer to go after whoever gave you the IV.
