Honey, get those nasty things off. They hold germs and destroy your real nails just like weaves destroy real hair.
If your nails won't grow, keep them strong by using lotion on them (I'm sure you have plenty of those).
Literally, acrylic nails are bacteria colonies. I cringe whenever I see them. Yucky.

Okay, I would remove them for two reasons...

1. Acrylics destroy your natural nails. They weaken the natural nail bed, and the filing and chemicals harm your cuticles.

2. Your client will be very unhappy with you when you dig him/her with you long cat nails! Long nails prevent you from being able to efficiently manipulate tissue. And, yes, dirt and dry skin will get trapped underneath them. Yuck!
I keep my natural nails neatly filed and trimmed just below the tips of my fingers. And it helps to remove any hangnails or rough skin around your fingertips, as well. Those can also dig your client's skin.

The best thing for you to do, in my opinion, is soak the nails in acetone until you can easily slide them off with a wooden cuticle pusher. A little trick that helps is to pour the acetone in a glass bowl filled with cotton balls. Stick your fingers in so that they are submersed in the acetone and also covered with the cotton balls. The cotton balls retain heat and cause the acrylic to break down faster. If any small amount of acrylic remains on the nail, you may have to file it off.
When the acrylic is completely removed, apply cuticle oil to all of your nails to moisturize and apply a good lotion all over your hands.
Best of luck!

I'm a LMT and so is my friend and she has those damn nails on and I get mad at her for having them.....It's not good, if you can't pop them off, soak them in nail polish remover they'll peel off, make sure it's Acetone kind and not the one special for acrylic nails.
