He's fine in the crib as long as you don't provide things for him to climb on. (ex. pillows, blankets, toys, books, etc..) Also you should make sure the crib is far away from any windows and window ledges. This way he cannot use that as a way to climb either. If the only place for the crib can be by a window make sure all strings for and/or curtains aren't in reach. Basically--keep stuff out of his crib and make sure it's not by a window and you should be fine. How high are the railings on your crib now? If they are about three feet tall or higher they should be alright to contain him for now. As another person said--they do sell things to go over the crib so he cannot fall out. I've heard good and bad reviews. Also--if he's just starting to pull up he will most likely take a while to begin climbing. My son just started standing and tries to climb all the time but cannot figure it out--you child might be the same or might be different. Here is a website that may ease your mind. I hope this helps!

Don't think you need plexiglass....what your baby is doing is perfectly normal. As long as you have bumper padding around the crib, he will be fine. That's how they learn.... by falling, and the crib is the safest place for him to do that. Mine got several bumps and bruises from his crib rails, but that's part of growing up. A fall in a crib is not far enough or hard enough to really hurt him. Sounds like he's really advanced.....6mos. is quite early to pull himself up to standing alone. That's great, but don't stress over your baby getting hurt in a crib! At his age, he's nowhere near able to get out of the crib (unless it's not a standard one). By the time a child is old enough to climb over a crib rail, they're usually smart enough to know it will hurt to hit the floor.
Good luck with your son.

It's highly unlikely that his legs are strong enough yet to crawl out or get hurt. If you're one of those parents that worries all the time though, there's those crib covers that looks like a tent that snaps on to the crib. I think you can find them at onestepahead.com. I would; however, get the mobile out of there, if you have one, ASAP as it is a choking hazard once a child stands in their crib.

Let me guess, first time mommy? Standing in the crib is nothing to worry about. It's a skill he's going to need later on in life. As long as he's not trying to climb out, he'll be fine. Besides, getting hurt is in a kid's job description.
It's a trial and error process. When he falls, he'll learn what not to do next time. Honestly, he's safer in there than anywhere else. Let him stand and fall in the crib and when he's not in it, just be there to catch him.

At 6 months he shouldn't be able to climb over the bars and fall out, yet. Tumbles are okay, that is how they learn. My son did that he fell in the crib but never hurt himself. It should be okay.

He's fine. Standing in the crib is one of the safest places to do it. He's a long way from climbing out.

i wouldn't recommend plexiglass. crib bars are usually just vertical, i don't see how he'd be able to use the bars to climb. if you're that worried about it, get rid of it and replace it w/ something else.

Don't want him to sufficate by building something air tight. Go to www.babycenter.com. They sell tents that fit on the top of the crib to keep kids in and cats out...

Its time for him to start exercising he will fall he probably will hit his little head but remember that this is how he will also learn to fall and control his body. Do not smother him or be too over protective. He needs to learn to fall you will not be ther all of his life to prevent falls. Do be there to pick him up and comfort him and tell him he is OK.
