If I remember correctly, the Republican party was trying to do away with flag burning just a few months ago. That's putting a limit on free speech. I'd rather have a group of pissed off students than my government infringing on my constitutional rights.

People from both sides want to silence the others. You can't logically compare college students to Hitler or Stalin. Everyone (not just liberals) should be concerned with protecting free speech, which by the way, has no need to be capitalized. Stop polarizing people and focus on the issues.

I think the students at Columbia were wrong in not letting the speaker present. Ironically, they were using their own right to assemble. I wouldn't compare them with Hitler and Stalin. Nobody died and people didn't go missing in the middle of the night.
Actually, people are usually screened and selected to be in Bush's audience. Protesters tend to be filtered out.

The students at Columbia interrupted a speech by attempting to unfurl a banner. In the normal course of events they would have ranted until campus security escorted them out, then the scheduled speaker would have gone ahead. But instead the minuteman guys, one of them, started to kick the crap out of the protestors and then blame it on them, so the whole thing got cancelled.
And yes, people have been escorted out of the gallery at presidential speeches for wearing t-shirts expressing anti war sentiments. And demonstrators have been confined to "free speech zones" which are essentially fenced in cages several blocks away from any of the people whose attention they are trying to get, like at the party conventions two years ago.
Seems like we all want to scream at each others, and the heck with the truth or civil discourse.

Are you comparing Columbia students with Hitler and stalin?
How cliche!
George Bush hasn't been very open to people who wouldn't necessarily "agree" with him. If he were to really let people speak their minds about him he'd answer their questions head on!!! So many politicians lack the balls to do that. I remember Bill Clinton pussy footing around those questions about pot and sex.
Man of the Year! I'm looking forward to see it even though it is only fiction

Yes, Bush has stopped people from speaking against him. Anyone who speaks out against him at a press conference is removed from the room. Protesters have been arrested for speaking out in the vicinity of him (remember what happened in New York City a few years back?).

Any time you see Bush talking in a Q&A session the people are all hand picked so that they ask the right questions and make him look better. (most of the time some good questions get through)
Their was a big thing in Utah about Mr. Moore the documentuary guy (farienheight 9/11, bowling for columbine) he spoke at UVSC (Utah Valley State College) Many protested his speach because he was too liberal for Utah County. It goes both ways.
Remember the FCC and the Jackson boob after that they took alot of freedoms of speach away they have limited what radio tv and many other medias can say or do.

Bush oppressing free speech wold be a contradition to his oath of office. the students are not government leaders, they are citizens exercising their right to speak over the voice of someone they disagree with...this is very American...thank God there are young people today who will stand up to arrogance...I have hope for America with kids like that around...good for them...how dare you you compare this good old American mob, expessing their view in a peaceful way (until the Minute men got ticked and started to get violent) to Stalin or Hitler...you are out to lunch. don't bother thinking for yourself, keep watching Rush and O'Reilly.
