Frivolities seem to be the essence of the American Dream, and one would be kidding herself if she thought that the dream was not the escape.

I suppose if I were more wealthy it might be easy to get lost in the details but with just enough to get me through, I don't have to face that daily.

My escape is writing. When I write, I don't have to be myself. Escape is indeed a fascinating thing...

Is frivolity perchance an escape for you?

Frivolity is not an escape, rather it is coping mechanism for all of us living in this world. Many of us lead hard lives, full of pain, doing things we dont believe or dont wont to do. Frivolity provides a release of stress, yet it does not mean we forget our duties, to family or society. In fact through recreation humans are able to achieve better levels of productivity. Frivolity is only a minor alleviation, from a hard days work.

Galileo was accused of being frivolious and the people accused him and rediculed him. Though I am not a Christian I aam told that Jesus was considered so and the people in power did horrible things for him. History is full of such instances.

One has to "escape" the mundane worldly things to look for ( seek) greater understanding of the meaning of life and living. Many mistakenly call this frivolity. It is not.

really speaking frivolities are intermediate attractions/diversions created by avaracious marketeers to divert your attention from bigger issues of life. We all fall prey to it.

Yes, and unfortunately for many, it is not just an escape, but, when dealing with problem, it is a way of life.

More of a destination than an escape.

If you ignore the trivial, eventually you might end up trivializing what you consider to be relevant.
