I always leave 20% or more, if you are crabby with a customer you are asking for a lousy tip, you have to put a good face for all your customers, did you ever hear of the "law of averages" you are bound to get a rotten tip once in a while, some people are just cheap, you can stand on your head and whistle Dixie and there still going to be cheap, and if you can't get over a customer giving you a lousy tip and you go on to your next customer with an attitude, your going to get another bad tip, if you want to be a waitress you have to bite your tongue and treat ever customer as if you know there going to leave you a winning Lottery ticket..
If you really can't put a lousy tip behind you , I think you should look for another job that won't be so dis hearting.....

Both of my daughters were waitresses while in college and they weren't crabby unless someone stiffed them. But they would still be nice to the next customer because besides being good waitresses, they knew how to work the customers for a good tip.

No. Bad service is bad service. Leaving a good tip with a bad waitress will not get you good service the next time you come in. Why would you leave a good tip if you got bad service anyways? They should be nice and fast when you see them even if it's the only time you see them.

Waiters and waitresses deserve a big tip after all the walking back and forth to serve customers (who at times can be rude for no reason). I like to tip 20%. Smile

Yes and no. There are some pretty demanding, rude, condescending customers out there who then turn out to be cheapskates.
But it ain't all about money. Most folks I know in the service industry would rather serve polite, cheerful customers who treat them like peers - like real human beings - and leave a modest tip then to serve rude, demanding, abusive customers who happen to tip well.
I mean, honestly, if someone's gotta bust their chops for a full shift, it isn't ALL going to be about tips by the end of the week, know what I mean?

maybe, they should be thankful thou that they are geting tips in the first place, i mean..free money! I'm guessing they are grabby because they have to deal with crabby costumers all day that can never be pleased and like to make a big deal out of nothing, (too cold, not cooked enough, ect ect) could get a little stressful. I say act a little nicer to them and try to brighten up their day, that might make them feel better.

Some waitresses are so sweet. When I see the nice ones, I think to myself, She should be a nurse."

They say,
"When you find someone who has lost faith in all humanity,
you have found a service worker "
Its true so many people are jurks and its hard after they have sucked your good spirits to even be nice to nice folks.

Did you ever think that maybe it's not about tips.
Maybe it's that time of the month or they didn't get any before going in to work.
