People do not always remember the past as it really was. As time goes by, they tend to remember the good things and forget the bad things. The past gradually becomes an ideal place full of goodness and light. Can you think of a time when you remembered something from the past differently than it really was? Please describe the situation and tell how you discovered that your memory of the past differed from the reality. How did you feel when you made this discovery?

Many thanks for your answer in advance.

I have had "memories" of things when I was very young, and my parents told me it never happened, or it didn't happen like that, and the only thing I can think of is I had a dream, and somehow incorporated it into my memory.
I also used to think my childhood was pretty bad, and as I got older and really thought about it, I realized how great I had it. It was just my perception, my hormonal issues as a teen, and my ignorance of real bad experiences that I could've had, and luckily never did, that shaped my distorted view of things.

I used to call people liars when they had this problem. My grandma yelled at me once when my cousin and I had a conflict. I told him "That's not what happened! You're Lying!" My grandma said "He's not lying. He just remembers it differently." I thought the only way to remember an event was how it actually happened. I guess you can embellish your past if you want to but then how can you learn from your mistakes? The only time I remember things differently is when I've had too much to drink.

You can see that false memories is a reality when you see a rerun on TV. Many scenes happen differently then you remember.

reality is subjective. youre reality is based on your own perceptions and perspectives. one little example would be the way you took something someone said, and the way they meant it.....2 totally different perspectives and interpretations

Driving by the house we lived in when I was in grade school. It looked much larger then - and very small today.
