why do the muslims say that their religion preaches 'universal brotherhood'?......?

what of the distinction among the sunnis,shiyas,shiites...they attack their places of worship also.does this mean there is universal brotherhood in isalm?

This means something slightly different to muslims than it does to westerners. Westerners understand the concept of universal brotherhood to mean that all peoples should be included within your identity group so that there is only one identity group. Everyone are brothers.

Muslims believe there should only be one identity group also. After they kill everyone else in the world, only they will remain. The result is universal brotherhood for indeed, anyone not a brother is dead. This is also what they mean when they say islam is a religion of peace. They mean the peace of the grave.

I believe they have been fighting for 1400 or so years because there was a disagreement on who would succeed Muhammad. All religions have their sects and cults. In Japan there is a children's song that the kids enjoy singing about a Buddhist cult that cropped up in the 1930's. I think a lot of religions are about getting control of people, places and things.
