Are you referring to the Norton Antispyware on the Toolbar?

I have AT&T Yahoo that still provides the old Antispyware program in the online package. I have the same problem. It updates at the beginning of each use, but, always says it is already updated. The date showing the last stay the same, never changing.

Never trust any single AS program to protect your computer. It can't. I use three programs that provide active protection I can trust. They are the Windows Defender Beta 2, AVG Antispyware (old ewido program), and SpywareBlaster (not a scanner, but, a blocker program). The pay for the AVG because it is an outstanding AS program. I have it set to check for updates every 60 minutes and it updates several times a day. I have other programs like Sypbot, AdAware and a couple of others I use for scans only. I scan with them once a week. Lucky for me is they never find anything more than cookies.

Here is a good site to read. It helped me understand how to protect my computer. I haven't had an infection in over a year.

This BleepingComputer site is also excellent.

How often do you expect an update? Mine shows 9-10-06, which is the date I asked for an update. There will be no updates if there are no new threats being reported.

The same goes for Dr.Alex, which I have downloaded for over 2 months and havn't managed to update it even once. Maybe, these software don't update, they just upgrade.

You mean like.. the subscription update? if so, then you need to buy a new version of Norton. When did you last get it? If it's been about a year, time to get a newer version.
