That depends on what you view as liberal, Fox news focuses on deffamation of non conservative politicians and completely disregards certain information that the American people ought to know, if the press is so liberal it means that there must be some elements of truth in what the liberals are saying that the media simply can't ignore

Press media USED to be liberally inspired, as in: damning the corrupt who prey on society's innocence and ignorance while pretending to be above suspicion...
IMHO, one of the most informative quick educations you can get about what's really going on with the media is covered in part in a movie called "OUTFOXED"... it's a documentary.
This film provides an in-depth look at Rupert Murdoch's media empires (yes, he has a global stranglehold), Fox News, and the dangers of ever-enlarging corporations taking control of the public's right to know.
"(G.W.)Bush is just the present symbol of a 40-year effort of the conservatives to remake language, build powerful institutions and have huge impact on the media. Fox's success, indeed its very presence, would not be possible without the hundreds of millions – some estimate billions – of conservative philanthropy ($$$) that went into building the right-wing juggernaut."

IT'S NOT. It's only your right leaning perception of it that makes you think so. It's actually very moderate...there are pundits on both extremes. the most Liberal press actually comes from the newspapers that are not owned by billionaires....I would tend to believe a paper that did not have vested interest in making people believe it's best to bend over backward for corporations...Do you think they got that rich by being nice guys? Do you really believe Murdock's WEST WAS WON network is on the common blue collar Joe's side? Labor unions do not have their own TV network to preach from, I'd fear the guy with the tons of money.

Which press are you talking about? Fox News or MSNBC?
The GOP definition of a liberal press is one that questions the truth of their statements and refuses to regurgitate the party line.
You're only going to get that from Rush and O'Rielly.
But if you look at the news on MSNBC's web site and Fox's web site, 90% of it is the same news, reporting the same facts. It's only the editorials that are partisan, and that's their purpose.

Despite what others on here claim....you are correct the main stream press is liberal. If you've ever heard a journalist being interviewed when asked why they chose that profession, many of them will say, "I wanted to make a difference ". The problem is a journalist should not seek to make a difference, just report the damn news. I don't want your opinion of it. I don't want your "gentle little liberal spin"....just read the story. Who, what, when, where, why and how.....that's all I want to hear from you. If your going to give me your opinion than be upfront about it and tell me it's your opinion, don't try and sneak it in on me and think I'm too stupid to realize what you are doing!

It isnt. Even your hero Bill O'Reilly had to admit that the so-called "Liberal" press gave Bill Clinton a harder time when he was in office than they do Bush now.

It is one-sided but does it matter? The negatives heavily outweigh the positives. And most people feel our Congress is out of touch with the American people. It reflects the general thoughts of the people.

It's a myth that the right wing has been perpetuating for years. To them any news organizations that dares to criticize their candidate, no matter how justified the criticism is, is liberal.
