My baby is six month old and Ive always used Enfamil Gentlease and Wic has now changed their milk here to isomil advanced(a soy based type),so I saw no harm just to try one feeding with baby but just with one try ,one feeding of it has made her vomit badly. Could it be shes can tolerate soy or just a reaction to a different formula?.She doesnt have a fever thankfully, and seems fine other than this episode after that bottle but what does concerns me is that I tried giving her a little water and it made her gag.She fell asleep on a empty stomach. Im afarid when she wakes up to even give her regular formula for fear she wil gag and vomit that up aswell. Of course if it continues I will take her to the pediatricians but Im so worried.

Yeah. My cousin is allergic to milk period. She had to have a special formula, a prescription that didn't contain milk at all. It was very expensive. It could be the formula itself, but I don't know. If she vomits to another formula that you try, I would consider taking her to the doctor to see what's up.

My son is on soy formula after having determined that he is lactose intolerant. My pediatrician, family doctor and every research I have done on the Internet has made me feel more than comfortable with Soy based formula. If you compare the labels, the soy formula has all the nutrients and vitamins of regular formula. I am not vegan, but there are many people out there that would tell you that cows milk is a worse 'foreign substance' in the body than soy. I would suggest trying it, if you are comfortable with it.

I use the Gentle Ease because of WIC also. I know that I tried feeding my son the Similac stuff awhile back and he didn't take to it at all. You may want to contact WIC and let them know what is going on. They pay for a different formula. Talk to your doctor first, but maybe you should just put your baby on the regular milk formula to see if she can handle it now. If she can't then maybe Similac has a Lacto Free formula or something.

It could be the change in formula, but it might also be an allergy. Talk to your doctor and have them check. If so, then talk to WIC about getting a medical allowance for the milk based formula. In either case, take her to the doctor. This could be serious!

Good luck. Nothing makes a mommy feel worse than having a sick baby.

Soy and dairy are two of the most common food allergens. So yes, it's quite possible she's allergic to the soy formula. If so, talk to WIC and see if you can get a medical allowance to stay on the cow's milk-based formula.

It is rare, but yes she could be allergic to the soy. I had one son who was lactose intolerant and was placed on soy formula. The doctor insisted that the vomiting was from the formula switch, but after a couple weeks it was still going on and then the doctor seemed to think I was crazy to not realize it was an allergy!

Cow's milk and soy are the #1 and #2 allergies that babies have. A lot of babies are allergic to soy and soy formula. So it certainly seems like a possibility.

Do not use soy, My baby got a bloody stool from a soy allergy and the doctors tortured him with spinal tap, antibiotics, venipuncture, etc. They were too stupid to figure it was a food allergy. He drinks Nutramigen now and is ok . He almost died. They even did X ray and no food or water for 48 hours and then threatend to call social services on me because I wanted to get him home

I think its the chage of milk. Try it again and again. See how she does tomorrow.

My friends baby was constantly throwing up the milk and they had to change it, she happened to be allergic to that formula. So yes, a baby can be allergic to formula.
