Recurring dreams? Realistic nightmares? A dream when you didn't want to wake up, or DID wake up, and tried to get back in it???

Ooh....I want to add something. Has anyone ever been half asleep and half awake, and been paralyzed , or couldn't breathe?

A few times I have been awakened during a really enjoyable dream and been able to return to it.

I have two kinds of dreams. The most usual ones are those that are kind of like the news of the day, just sort of saying this is what's going on with you (me) recently.

The other, more unusual ones are those that have a sort of bizarre twist to them that are a message that I have to decode.

For instance, years ago I had a dream in which I was riding in the back seat of a car with my mother at the wheel and my younger sister in the passenger seat. Mother was driving hell-bent-for-leather through the night WITHOUT THE LIGHTS ON.

Both my mother and sister are fairly passive women. I figured out that the dream was telling me that I needed to get in the "driver's seat", take control, and be more assertive in my life. That is what I have done--I went back to college, started a career that I love, and have a lifestyle that makes me happy.

Yes, I used to have tons of very vivid dreams. I usually have nightmares in phases, and sometimes they will follow a kind of sequence, like getting closer to being captured every night.
I have also had dreams where I woke up from a dream of a house, and when I fall back asleep, I am back at the house, knocking on the door, and the person answers and tells me they were waiting for me.(not a nightmare, just a wierd dream. )
I have a lot of "story dreams". They have a beginning, middle, end, plotline, characters, the whole deal.
The worst was when I was having tons of nightmares and one night I kept waking up in my dream into another dream, and waking up from that into another. Freaky.
This all runs in my family, so it must have a genetic thing to it.

Are you looking for a thousand responses? Of course we do! So what do you plan to do with all the accounts you might get? We often use dreams to solve problems in real life, and the dreams can be quite disturbing until we figure them out. Do you want to hear about the ones I had about hiding a body? I woke up sweating, my heart pounding. Until I figured out why I was having that dream. Then I stopped having it.

But I just saw that you're asking about "waking paralysis". That's an entirely different subject. email me if you want. I've been through that.

Yes, all of the above. I dream every night, sometimes nearly all night. Sometimes it sucks because it feels like I don't get any rest. I have vivid and lucid dreams.
