Im not sure if its only here in missouri but....
what are your personal opinions and why?
please dont hurt anyone, or say anything offensive...

heres my opinion...being someone who just got through with chemotherapy and spent a week at a summer camp for kids with cancer was heart breaking. i think it should be legal. if you ever hear parents in the elevators in hospitals its heartwrenching. once my mom asked another parent next to us how long shed been in and she replied "oh not long, 3 weeks"
which in hospital years.... is like 9 years... no kidding.;.

so im kinda uninformed so i want your opinions and why
thanks and have a good day!

(note- my answer's long and you may not agree)

im not opposed to scr if the research is being done on adult stem cells - which is where most of the scientific advances are taking place. im assuming whats up in missouri this election is regarding state funding for scr. im all for medical advancement but i think its a slipperly slope for 2 reasons:

1-govt as a rule shouldnt be funding medical research - it starts to involve too many special interests when it does so. this biggest advancements in medicine in the 20th happened w/o govt funding.

2-while it is not neccessarily for the sake of human cloning, i think it is yet another slide further down the slope that roe v wade put us on. human life should never have been disposed in a such a way to begin with; let alone used now after its been disposed as a means.

gauranteed - the further we slide, the more acceptable things like cloning, or worse, will become.

cancer has struck my family too, and i know that a cure will be found one day - a cure would be for the sake of human dignity; and in the process human life should be treated in a dignified way.

here's my rant:

are you aware that 'jane roe' finally released her identity a few years ago and is profoundly remoresful for her part in the decision?

are you aware that morality plays a role in the creation of every law (people who vote have a tough time leaving them at home when they do)?

are you aware that the judiciary is not a legistlative body, and should not be using their power to interpret in order to promote legal agendas: roe v wade did legally sanction abortion, and they knew exactly what they were doing. this generally angers citizens who understand it to be their right to vote for people who will create new legislation - the SC shouldnt have even accepted this case, let alone ruled in favor of the side that argued for the destruction of life.

are you aware that making something sanitary and safe doesn't justify it morally? (Nazi's had some clean and effecient methods themselves - look into Eichman)

are you aware that someone who doesn't want to be pregnant had every capability of using a codom; and would have no problem giving what they don't want to people who do want to be pregnant but arent able to be?

are you aware that less a fraction of the 60 million abortions since roe were performed to save the mother's life - almost all were due to legally sanctioned irresponsiblity?

are you aware that mother's who perform abortions generally experience severe depression?

Missouri "Amendment 2" proposes to permanently change the Missouri Constitution by a SIMPLE MAJORITY VOTE, to allow UNLIMITED and IRREVERSIBLE state funding of EMBRYONIC stem cell research through NEW TAXATION. This research is MORALLY UNACCEPTABLE to many people, including many Catholics, Lutherans, Orthodox Jews, and others. This method has had virtually no success to date.

Hey "Robert D", who said anything about Roe v. Wade? We're discussing a proposed change to the Missouri Constitution that would enable unlimited and irrevocable taxation without reasonable representation and for no viable reason, since there are plenty of proven and acceptable alternatives. These include ADULT stem cell research, which can use umbilical cord blood, bone marrow, and recently even skin or fat, which can be harvested from a living or DECEASED donor.

Man why does someone always have to bring up Roe V Wade that does not understand the case? You are aware that the girl who sued to have the right to get an abortion had her child and gave it up for adoption yes? You are also aware that Roe V Wade allowed the government to regulate the abortion industry which, until that case, was UNREGULATED and basically was a chop shop where women died often because of unsanitary conditions. Many abortions prior to Roe V Wade were done without medical equipment and without a doctor present. It may not be right in peoples morals to allow abortion but Roe V Wade did not truly legalize abortion it allowed the woman an opportunity to choose abortion as a SAFE method to end an unwanted pregnancy instead of going to an alley way doctor's office to have it done. Overturning Roe V Wade will not end abortion it will just push it back underground into the chop shops and basements of doctors who know it can make them even more money without the regulation in place provided by the Roe decision. Think about it for a bit and understand that it is about laws and regulation to make a process safe and healthy instead of a chop shop!

That said...I live in kansas and am so sick of hearing about Missouri's amendments it is not funny. Amendment 2 could probably be written better and do more good if it is voted down and then redone by someone who knows what they are doing instead of a politician writing law. Politicians wrote No Child Left Behind...and look what that has created. I would personally vote NO if I was in Missouri but i am not so I won't. Has nothing to do with morals or that I do not believe in the opportunities SCR can give to us as humans. If God sees fit to give us the power and intelligence to do such research then perhaps it is not amoral to do such research within severe regulations though to assure we are not cloning people...although there is evidence that cloning my liver or heart for transplant purpose would save me the need to have to take millions of dollars worth of rejection drugs the rest of my life.

one last thing since I am on a rant.......do you REALLY think drug companies will allow science to solve these diseases? Please....drug companies, who have politicians in their pockets, make billions of dollars a year on diabetics, cancer patients, and others who would benefit from breakthroughs in medicine. I doubt they would like to lose those millions of dollars because their market is suddenly depleted by cures...

the place did you get the stupid theory the that "the biggest reason the founders put in the 2d admendment exchange into for the civilian inhabitants to maintain the goverment extremely the federal goverment in verify incase it grew to become too useful"?? no longer from the exchange. It says no longer something of the type. The 2d exchange exists to grant for the protection of the state (and the country) by the militia. What you're advocating is an armed insurrection AKA treason. Obama stated he'd end the Iraq conflict and positioned across those troops living house. that is in technique top now. conflict's over, wrestle troops have withdrawn. "he did say he exchange into going to be non violent and positioned across the troops living house from the mideast, rather he keeps them in the two iraq an afghanistan and all started a third conflict" Uh, moron... Afghanistan isn't interior the "mideast" and there is not any "third conflict." Gee, who's the liar?
