Sure, I'm open minded, and very objective, and have the analytical ability to decipher opinion from factual evidence. I love a great debate, and a fair argument which isn't one sided or bias, and if, it so happens that I change my opinion, and am more enlightened, I feel more educated about an issue. That's the whole point of learning and growing within ourselves.

If not, then "the brain gets smart but the head stays dumb."

Not often. But it could depending on the person and what the subject was, I might change my opinion. Say someone acted in a way that I thought was wrong or inappropriate. I might find out from someone that I know and trust that the person had reasons for acting that way that I didn't know about. Then I may change my opinion of that person based on new information.

Yes, it does not all the time but when someone says something to me and it makes more sense than what I thought, I will change my opinion. The reason that I joined this forum was to open my mind and see what other people thought on different subjects, I have the firm belief, that if you have an open mind you will learn something new every single day of your life.

Yes. If im not open to other possibilities...then i pretty much close off the rest of the world and am unable to learn or understand anything besides my own point of views. If I find my opinions are wrong after a serious contemplation of some very convincing arguments, and i do not change them...then i am in very serious danger of never realizing the truths of reality.

I am a scientist and my opinion has changed many times on many issues. Never on someone else's opinion, but if a new fact comes along to upset my theoretical position, I must acquiesce in that finding.

I am a very bull headed Taurus that is also an engineer, I could give a rat's *** what some else thinks unless they have the cold hard black and white facts to back it up with. And I do not mean just one side of the facts, but all of the facts.

Oh yes, people are very subject to outside influence. Although they vigorously deny it (look at your answers). There was a good demonstration of this on Candid Camera. Someone stepped into an elevator, and usually everyone in the cab faces the door. This time, everyone was facing to the back. The subject looked uncertain, but in all cases he eventually turned around and faced the back of the cab just like everyone around him!

isn't it funny that after eric said that you would have to be very proud to not accept other's viewpoints, then other people started saying that their opinion does change and that they ARE open minded people???
P.S. i agree with you, eric. My opinion can change many times if someone makes a good point, and I will consider their opinion.

usually not because of someone else's opinion, because I am stubborn and opinionated. But if someone presents me with cold hard facts that my opinion or reasoning is flawed, I will definitely step aside and take an objective look... and yeah, maybe alter my opinion... maybe.
