Hourglass Nebula (also known as MyCn18) is a young planetary nebula situated in the southern constellation Musca about 8,000 light-years away from Earth. It was discovered by Annie Jump Cannon and Margaret W. Mayall during their work on an extended Henry Draper Catalogue. At the time it was designated simply as a small faint planetary nebula. Much improved telescopes and imaging techniques allowed the hourglass shape of the nebula to be discovered by Raghvendra Sahai and John Trauger of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory on July 30, 1995. It is conjectured that MyCn18's hourglass shape is produced by the expansion of a fast stellar wind within a slowly expanding cloud which is denser near its equator than its poles.

The replies that alot of you have leads me to believe that your IQ levels are very low or you refuse to excerise your brains(you know who you are)!
This question asked is a very good question! Stop making intellegent people look stupid!
Nebulas are clouds of interstellar gasses that compress and form the stars in the universe, their shapes can form in a hundred different ways.
Some can take the shape of planets or horses or even crabs.
Here is a intresting fact:
Without the formation of stars in the universe then there would be no planets and no life in the universe - it would just be a empty universe with dark matter.

Could one ever answer the question "what is the shape a cloud?"
The shape of a nebula is "nebulous," meaning:
1. Cloudy, misty, or hazy.
2. Lacking definite form or limits
3. Of, relating to, or characteristic of a nebula.

no definite shape.. the term you should have used was the "figure" or at least "how does it look like?"... well, since it's a lot of dust, it really looks like a cloud, full of misty particles..
